People
often ask why or how I began my career as a photographer.
Photography has been a part of my life since I can remember and I
have my amazing grandmother (and National Geographic Magazine) to
thank for that. Gram used to have family slideshows where we would
all gather around the screen watching her most favorite moments and
adventures. Then one day when I was 10 years old I saw a photograph
of myself in a National Geographic Magazine. (You can read more
about this on my blog). It was then that I knew I wanted to
photograph people and events. I love what I do and I consider myself
very lucky. I have the best job in the world. I share moments with
people who are exquisitely joyous, capture their memories and
visually tell their stories. As I grow older it becomes more and
more apparent at how quickly life passes us by. 10 years can seem
like 10 minutes and I’m constantly astounded at how ephemeral the
moments can be. I savor the notion that my clients will stop every
once in a while throughout their lives and step back in time to
cherish the memories that I’ve captured remembering them as if they
happened yesterday.
